John Koskinen and Mark Skousen

“America’s Economist” Mark Skousen & Chief Economist for the Wisconsin Department of Revenue, John Koskinen, offer thoughts and comments on the ramifications of the Presidential election.

John Koskinen is the Chief Economist for the Wisconsin Department of Revenue and has served in that capacity for several administrations. His expert economic analysis has positioned him as an authority on Wisconsin’s economy.

John’s detailed and visual presentations make it easy to understand Wisconsin’s economy how is the most competitive it has been in many years. His presentation will change your perception of Wisconsin’s economy.

John has been cited as a commentator on the Wisconsin economy in the media throughout the state and the country. He has testified on the Wisconsin economy before several standing committees of the state legislature. He has presented on Wisconsin economic outlook to the diverse groups around the state including rating agencies, investor groups, state and regional economic development associations, colleges and universities, financial institutions, trade associations, and employers. For 2021 and 2022, Vistage Inc. recognized John as one of its top presenters nationally.

Prior to joining the Department of Revenue in 2007, John served as the Staff Economist for the Governor’s Budget Office, Wisconsin Department of Administration from 1979 to 2007. He started his professional career at the Wisconsin Legislative Fiscal Bureau.

John has his B.A. and M.S. in Applied Economics from Marquette University. He has done additional graduate studies in Economics at Northwestern University and computer science at the University of Wisconsin.

Mark Skousen, Ph. D., is a nationally known investment expert, economist, university professor and author of more than 25 books. Skousen has a doctorate degree from George Washington University and is currently a Presidential Fellow at Chapman University. He has taught economics, business and finance at Columbia Business School. Recently, Skousen was named one of the top 20 living economists in the world. Since 1980, Skousen has been editor in chief of Forecasts & Strategies, a popular award-winning investment newsletter. He was an economic analyst for the CIA in the early 1970s, a columnist to Forbes magazine, chairman of Investment U, and past president of the Foundation for Economic Education in New York.

Mark is a successful publisher of books, including “The Maxims of Wall Street” and “Investing in One Lesson,” and a successful entrepreneur in producing every July his famous “FreedomFest” conference.

Skousen has built a reputation for not only accurately identifying the right economic and political trends, but also the right investments for the times.

Finally, Skousen is a sixth-generation direct descendant of Benjamin Franklin. In 2006, upon the 300th anniversary of his famous ancestors anniversary of his birth, he finished completing Franklin’s famous Autobiography under the title, “The Completed Autobiography of Benjamin Franklin.”
