Joseph Bast, president and CEO of The Heartland Institute, was its first employee in 1984. He is the author and coauthor of 12 books, including, Rebuilding America’s Schools, Why We Spend Too Much on Health Care, Eco-Sanity: A Common-Sense Guide to Environmentalism, and Education & Capitalism. Mr. Bast’s writing has also been published in some of the United States’ largest-circulation newspapers including the Wall Street Journal, Investor’s Business Daily, and USA Today.
